Čitajući tako recentne napade Microsofta na GPL licenciranje, te se ne voljeći s idejom da monopol ugrožava ljudske slobode, osmislih stvar koja se zove Blessed Divine License. A i napisah pismo Raymondu o tome, no ovaj mi se odgovoriti ne ufaše - vjerojatno zastrašen prijetnjama iz Redmonda. 
Šalu nastranu, prilažem modifikaciju GPL-a koja bi se zvala BDL, pa tko ima živaca neka pročita, a moj komentar slijedi na kraju teksta... BLESSED DIVINE LICENSE Version 1, April 2002. Ponajprije, ono što se svatko pita, kome bi uopće palo na pamet raditi nekakvu religioznu licencu? Razlog tome je prilično jednostavan - nastavi li se (a nema razloga da ne) potenciranje Microsofta u odnosu na sve ostale subjekte kapitalističkog pristupa IT industriji, jasno je da će Redmond raditi sve na tome da onemogući najopasniju konkurenciju - GPL software. Problem je višeznačan, od pravnog (ako Microsoft "posudi" dio GPL koda morat će otvoriti source pod GPL licencom), preko iracionalnog ("to su sve komunisti"), čisto pragmatičnog ("gle koliko ima Linuxa na serverima po svijetu, tu je svugdje mogao bit Windows server, znate li vi koliko je to manje profita, eeee") pa do komercijalnog (opasnog protivnika treba maknuti s trzista na svaki moguci nacin). Posljednji u nizu FUD pokusaja jest implicitna zabrana GNU licenciranih programa u bilo kakvom kontaktu s MS programima i developer alatima. Nagradno pitanje: da li bi Microsoft imao jaja, u svjetlu poznate nepopularnosti, zabraniti licencu po kojoj se softver radi u Božje ime? Ateistima to vjerojatno zvuči smješno, ali većina ljudi ipak je na ovaj ili onaj nacin monoteistička. Stavljanje u crnu listu licence koja eksplicitno kaže da se softver radi u slavu Boga (pri čemu je riječ o pointeru na različita tumačenja, vidi BDL) je vrlo loš PR koji Microsoft stavlja na stranu ekipe s kućnog broja 666. Zatim, BDL je GPL-u ono što je IP TCP-u. BDL može u sebi "čuvati" druge licencne modele, ako su oni u skladu s BDL-om. Time se čuvaju originalne licence i prava proistekla iz njih. Najzad, jednom kad sva svoja prava date u Božje ruke, i kad je Bog vlasnik softvera (kao što je, uostalom, vlasnik i svega ostalog - osim ako niste vjernik , sve što Bill Gates može učiniti je - tužiti Boga. Postoje tu mnoge religijske implikacije, ali nit vodilja cijele stvari je ova: svi smo mi Božja stvorenja, stvorena na slavu Boga, pa je tako i softver koji stvaramo napravljen na slavu Boga i treba biti korišten u ime ljubavi prema čovjeku i prema Bogu. Softver kao religijski pokret? Možda je teško tehnički nastrojenim ljudima razmišljati na takav način, ali ima li prepreka tome? U ime Božje ne rade se samo ratovi, već i umjetnost, dobročinstva, sitne dnevne dobrote... i sve ono što je tako dobro da je nemoguće osuditi to.
